As far as I'm aware all water pumps are mechanical and on the vtr engine is driven by the cambelt.
Is the engine a pre or post 2001.
Nip onto eBay and get a reg for the correct year car the engine came out of and go to local motor factors.

its a mechanical pump driven by the cambelt. Two bolts to get it out, then refit and tightend up to 23nm when refit.
Getting it out is another matter though...if its been in there years prepare yourself to spend a good wedge of time smashing the hell out of it

If the engine is out of the car you might have an easier time of it. Not saying it will be stuck in but a lot are

Mine was a right git to get out.
If you have a spin on metal oil filter your going to want to a pre 2001 reg.
or if you have the plastic housing then a 2001 reg will work.
