I don't suppose anyone could help me I've just brought a saxo vtr with a dogey gearbox and a shed load of miles, I brought a engine and gear box with nearly any miles, and then got quoted about £400 to swap them over, I am not paying that much so I thought I may aswell tackle it myself I've got a basic mechanical knowledge but could some one tell me the easiest way please

    Haynes book!

    Engine crane!

    Or try a different garage!

Have you made sure that the replacement is exactly the same engine as three different ones were fitted to the R over the years!

Set aside a whole weekend and take your time you'll find it an easy enough job. If your not sure when stripping things off to remove the engine just take photos as a reference to jig your memory

The engine I've got is a 2000 and the new engine is a 2001 so I'm assuming there the same, and I don't suppose either of you could write me a step by step guide just so I don't break anything, would be very appreciated.
