Important! : Random earth in engine bay

   For some reason the screw coming out the suspension turret snapped when I was tightening my ECU tray back into place, I would just leave it but an earth is supposed to connect there for the ECU. Can anyone give a suggestion to fix it temporally as i need the car!

   Drill it out and use a self tapping bolt of a bigger size

   How will that work when its just the end of the screw i need? Is there a way I can screw it in from the other side of the turret?

   Or just drill out the old screw and as you say use a small self tapping screw going into the turret instead?

   That would work as well, anything that would bring that earth in contact with bare metal. Could always see if it reaches another bolt nearby

   shouldnt be an earth there..so id ask why its there in the first place

   It's coming out of the loom of the ECU... Can't really see any other bolts the same size to connect it under... But if you say it's not supposed to e there were does it go?

    I would drill it out and self tap it, I would worry to much if it has been working fine,
    
    But from the look of the insulation tape on that earth it looks like it's been "modified" at some point.
    
    Could it be the earth to the starter motor?
    
    As long as it's earthed properly though it should be ok jigs

    1st time i`ve seen an earth there,but just drill out then a self tapping bolt or nut and bolt.

    The original screw doesn't actually come out the otherside of the turret, so how am I supposed to drill it out?

    If the cable is long enough find another bolt already in situ put the cable & add a nut.

    I'm currently at work but I've asked my dad to pick me up a self tapping screw so I'll see what I can do with that later! Thanks for everyone's help!
    
    In regards to the random earth, the car hasn't been modified in any way before I bought it so who knows why it's there...

    I haven't tried starting it up yet, the paint is still drying on the passenger door. Do you recon I should give it a go?
