Hi people
Just done my first head gasket change, everything I did was perfect except the tensioning of the timing belt. The first time I put it on, it was whining and rattling because it was too tight, took it all apart again and made it looser, at which point I thought I had done it but the whining sound returned as the engine got hot. The guide I followed which stated to get it "just tight enough to twist 90 degrees between your fingers" is much too subjective!!
I really want my car drivable again now, and am busy, so would much rather just pay someone to do it. By far the cheapest option I have found is to take it to a garage about 3 miles away from me, my question is will it be safe enough to drive carefully to the garage or not really..
the cambelt is whining under acceleration.
