Can i rivet instead of weld ???

   Hi everyone , i bought myself a saxo 1.1 for my work to save putting miles on my octavia vrs , i noticed the rear chassis where the towing eye goes onto needs repaired as there is a rust hole , can i rivet a patch onto the chassis or does it have to be welded for its mot ? , thanks

   Has to Seam welded for the mot

   It won't fail if its the rearmost part of the square tube heading upto the tow eye. I did recently 500 or 600 quids worth of welding on a rallye, didn't fail on this first time. Only advised.
   
   Butbotherwise, weld it properly as it'll keep going.
