vtr power steering prob

   Hi guys I'm new to the forum and just wanted to confirm something... I have a v reg phase 2 vtr and I think my power steering pump is nearly dead. Heater fan and demister work fine and the relay on top of the pump is clean inside and I can feel it clicking when the engine is fired up so relay ignition barrel and fuses are good. Pump basically only works when tapped with a hammer-squeals- then works fine until cars turned off then back on. New pump needed? Will vts/106gti /furio etc fit? As new ones are sooooo expensive!!!    Sounds like a new pump is needed & all saxo pas pumps fit and work.
