ABS

    Hi Guys

Previous owner of my Saxo appears to have done a bit of an 'on the cheap' replacement, and replaced the rear beam with one which has no ABS rings or sensors etc.

At the moment then, the ABS light is on, and the ABS doesn't work at all (as expected).

I guess this is a beam replacement for one with the correct ABS sensors and pickups? Is it worth me doing this to retain the ABS or to remove the ABS system altogether? Background to the car - it's a road legal track car (so far!) and passed its last MOT with failed ABS (I didn't know at the time, the previous owner covered the light up!). It's used on the road for about an hour a week, not a lot at all. What's involved in removing the ABS altogether?

    Cheers
    Nick

All traces of the abs have to be removed
That includes all wiring sensors the pump etc

If the light was covered how did the tester fail the car on abs?

I'm pretty sure he says that it passed its mot with "failed" abs system.

    So the tester passed it.

Ah I misread. Yes it seems it passed the mot without abs. Which is to be expected.

Op - if your plans are track use then bin off the abs anyway

The pump is the bit that confuses me as you obviously have loads of brake pipes going in and out of it - how is the system routed when removing the pump? Are there any Saxos without ABS where I can get the pipework from?

    Cheers!

Most Vtr didn't have abs fitted!
So you can get the master cyclinder from one of those!
