power loss

hi everyone.just wondering ive had some work done to my vtr by epmotorsport including modified head and cam, bigger valves, chipped.full custom sports exhaust including 4into1 manifold.theres a big difference now much more power.it will rev easily to 7000rpm in all gears except 5th at about 6000revs in 5th there is a sudden power loss.the revs and speed just drop off any ideas why.thanks

well, 6grand in 5th should be about 150mph, so thats possibly why

you dont have the power to redline in 5th gear with the modifications you've done. you'd need a turbo or supercharger to hit top speed in 5th
    6k in 5th on a vtr is 135.4mph, n/a vtr couldn't hit that.

yes i know your probably right about it needing to be super or turbo charged to hit that but on the motorway it did hit 135mph then it makes like a slipping noise and the power just drops off for a second.same happens in the other gears go to about 7500rpm and something slips and i lose power.

you hit 135 on your speedo, probably around 120-125 in reality. and when you say 'chipped' i hope you meant remap and not superchip otherwise all your engine is doing is revving higher and making a lot of noise for no particular reason. (twat for driving at that speed on the motorway by the way)

yes very sorry for driving that fast.just had to test it out.but if my rev counter says im doing 6000rpm then surly i am going that speed .thanks for your replies.

you're engine doesnt have the power to hit that speed. problem solved.

dyno it then dip-shit, that will give you all the performance figures you need, THAT WILL TEST IT OUT! and its LEGAL!

Or a short ratio box will let you hit the limiter in 5th on a slight down slope but then top speed is lost anyway.

Why the need to hit the limiter in a VTR i dont no all pulling power (torque) is lost after 4k tops

No idea what affect camshafts have on an engine then?

Performance cam = torque band moves further up rev range

had it on a rolling road dipshit 140bhp and it can rev to 6000rpm in 5th

    i agree with sean

i wondered whod say that first

it was 136.sumit to tell the whole truth.
