Are you tapping to the same size or larger?

I've bought the exact bolt from Citroen as it was only £1.25 so I think it needs to be the same size

All depends if there is enough metal left for you to tap a new thread and still be able to hold a bolt

2 choices
1-- tap out to 10mm
2- get a "time sert" fitted -so you can 8mm bolt

Id go with retapping to an M10. If you've snapped the original M8 bolt that you're having to drill out first then there's no guarantee you'll be able to retap a decent M8 thread in the same position. With an M10 it'll be a fresh thread without any bits of old bolt remaining, plus it'll be much stronger.
