Vehicle Wrapping

  1. #1
    Hi Guys & Girls

im just trying to gauge opinions on Vehicle wrapping as im seriously considering it on my new VTR Project.

now cost wise a full wrap is around £250 where as paint is around £1500

I also understand there is no need to inform DVLA of a wrap as the actual body colour is the same as V5 as its just a vinyl cover

Has anyone gone down this route before ??

My friend has his golf wrapped, costed him £900 and was on offer. Its good but is starting to bubble and has only been on about 4-5 months, but you'll never beat a respray as many will say!

900 sod thaaaaaat. Then you're bound to wash with cold water as anything warn will soften the glue and bubble.

That seems steep my mate got his done for 300 by a backstreet garage and another mate got quoted 800 by 3m who are probably some of the best guys to wrap it.

I'd do wrap as a cheap do it yourself way of of tarting up the appearance of a car, the saxo is that small I doubt it would be difficult to do yourself. I'm wrapping some of my vt bits in carbon look at the minute to make it look better and I'm quite impressed by the wrap. Don't know how long it will last but does look good when you put it on.

It won't last long because I'm guessing you don't know how to heat treat it to take the shape of the panel and not remember its shape as a flat sheet.

I've been using a heat gun to heat it, it might not last long but it's cheap enough to redo. The stuff I've done on my bike has lasted 9 months now. What I've been doing is heating the wrap while I'm applying it and when I'm getting to the edges I've been heating it and pulling it down then once the whole panel is done like that I flip it around reheat the edges to take the tension off and wrap it to the underside of the panel. After that I reheat the whole panel and rub the wrap firmly.

I wrapped the wing mirror cover and I'd say that was harder than anything else to do just with the curves on it.

iv wrapped a few of my cars aswell as customers honestly the price indicates the finished job you recieve.washing it with warm water wont soften the glue and if the panels are prpared properly it will last as long as your car.you can pay anything fromm £900-1200 depending on colour and finish required.i think it all comes down to personal prefernce really.im wrapping my roof bonnet of my vts will post pics when done.
