Strange noise, any ideas?

   I have a rattle/grinding noise coming from the top of the inlet manifold in my car.
   
   Since hearing this noise i've tried everything to resolve it, i've had the tappets checked and reset, a whole new inlet manifold put in, and a new ICV as they thought that might be causing the noise. And yet it is still there, i'm starting to think it might be a bottom end issue?
   
   There does appear to be a loss of power with the noise also.
   
   If anyone can shed any light on the issue it would be appreciated. I will post a video of the noise below.

   Are the plugs tightened up correctly?

   They were checked about 1000 miles ago, they can't work themselves loose can they?

   No I changed the inlet in the hope it might fix the issue

   Dear Jigs2895,
   What you may want to try is, using a long piece of round bar and put it on top of the rocker cover using your ear to pinpoint where the noise is coming from. ie the top end camshaft or the bottom end the crankshaft.
   This method when it is carried out properly, should definately tell you which part of the engine is grinding
   Have a listen and tell us whether it is top or bottom

   I've tried that mate, doesn't seem to be a certain area in which the noise is coming from

   The noise is exactly the same coming from this inlet manifold as it was from the old one, definitely not the tappets, really stuck for what else it could be, it's louder than my exhaust when I'm driving which is why it's pissing me of so much haha

    injectors is my only other thing i can suggest unless anyone has ideas. they can make noise.

    That sounds nasty can understand why it's pissing you off! Sounds like something is rattling around inside, you had anything taken off where something could of dropped in?

    Yup had the whole thing off and even replaced the inlet manifold

    Thanks to KrisB the problem is now fixed, turns out the camshaft tooth was advanced causing the noise for future reference for anyone else.
