MK2 spoiler fitting?

   I recently got this MK2 spoiler, and I've got some Sikaflex 221 to stick it on with too. The thing I was wondering was whether or not I need to remove the foam pad (in the picture below) beforehand?
   
   Of course I'll remove the screws before

   Remove it you want a good surface to stick it too.
