hi guys i am planning on getting my car through an mot at the end of the month.

car has been sitting for a while and cracks have developed on my tyres between the tread.

i dont really want to replace them yet if i have to.

I am not an mot tester but would say yes, that is an mot fail.

Sure an mot is cracks to the side wall. Still it'll only get worse.

Depends on the tester. No one can give you a 100% answer unless they will be doing the Mot themselves!

Get it mot'd and then if it fails get the tyres sorted. That's how I would do it

Thanks for your info guys. Totally see where your coming from on get it mot'd first then if it gets a fail replace them.

Unfortunately it's all 4 so I could do without the expense.

Iv got another set of alloys which I could use but I'd rather use these.

    Cheers

regardless of that passing an MOT, I wouldn't run it anyway, its not safe.

plus that tread depth looks pretty marginal anyway, bit of rain and you'll be fucked if the cracks don't get you with a blowout.

As above, & if you get caught by the police running with tyres like that it`s a £60 per wheel +3 points per wheel.

I had an advisory for excessive cracking to the sidewalls on all 4 tyres when mine was mot'd......

But as that's on the part of the tyre that's in contact with the road, then chances are its a fail........

You can pick up used tyres on ebay for much cheapness, have a gander and see what there is.

If you are skint and don't want the expense of a new set you could always get part worn or 2nd hand to get you by. Be careful though of what you purchase. Would probably rather get a set of new budget tyres myself.

One of my local scrappy's do part worn tyres for £16, fitted on your own rims. Enough to get it through an mot, then you can replace these with new tyres at your leisure.
