As above, and * hear *

Are the cv joints part of the drive shaft? Cos they have been checked when I had my gearbox replaced? Haha cheers for that!

Full lock will be driveshafts, is it rhythmic?

They've been checked tho when my gearbox was replaced what else could it be? Just one knock then it goes buddy

probably your suspension spring clicking a bit or 2 as you steer, quite common.

As said it's your cv joint, basically where it's worn & your putting it under stress by having the steering on lock that's why you get the noise. It's easier to replace the driveshaft,or if it's not too bad & either the boot has split or the clip has come off then replace these & re-pack with grease mate.

Checking for play is for wheel bearing not driveshafts,if the cv joint has totally gone then you'll get a rotational knock as well.

So how can I check it. The boot isn't split?

You've given us the symptoms of what are a 90% chance of being a worn cv joint, other than changing the driveshaft & then seeing if the noise has gone I can't offer you any further advice.Other than letting a garage give a verdict.

A drive shaft is £30 max, a garage would probably change you that in labour to check it out. If you don't think it's the shaft then you've no choice to go to a mechanic. As Stevo said it's more than likely the cv.

Mine did on full lock then I changed the shafts. J&R driveshafts for the win.
