Electrical fault?

I was out the other night and after about two hours of driving I stopped to get a drink, when I got back in the car I turned the key to turn my stereo on (didn't start the engine) and as I turned the keys everything went dead, so I turned the ignition off and back on and everything came on bu had reset as if I had disconnected my battery, stereo settings lost and digital clock reset etc, so I redone all the settings and it's kept them all ok and not had any problems until just now, I was driving along and it done the same thing but as I'm actually on the move, my rev needles and speedo etc all dropped for a few seconds then went back up but like before the stereo settings etc had been reset, anyone got any ideas? All I could think of was perhaps a faulty alternator? But it's been fine apart from these two little incident? Cheers

now you've said that the other day my stereo kept turning off if I hit a big bump but I thought it must just be skipping as it wasn't losing its memory. I will check the battery, if its there it will be from where I installed my amp power cable! the thing that threw me is that it done it after I got in the car and was sat stationary and went off and on without the car moving etc? cheers for the replies btw

Those lever connections are a pain in the arse!
Mine was always jumping off , I put a j clip on it for now
And that also sorted my very random misfire issue.

Today I got in my car, started my engine, turned my headlights on and as I turned the lights on it done it again, clocks went dead then back on and it reset my digital display clock, battery connection seems ok
