Vts breathers

  1. #1
Just a quick question - got the one breather on the inlet cam side that returns to the sump that's all good

On the exhaust cam side there appears to be a breather hole which is just that - a hole I can get my finger into. Should there be a pipe here feeding up to the inlet or induction kit area?

    Thanks

Heres a picture of what I mean (apologies to Jeffchiz whos picture this is)

The hole above the thermostat housing behind the black pipe is what i'm getting at

Probably shouldnt have put "breather" its an oil return!

if I were you id fit a rubber pipe from the cam cover to a oil catch tank

    with a oil breather filter

that will be done in regards to the breathers.
I should have worded this better I think as I've confused even myself. The hole i'm referring to is on the head casting itself you can see it in the picture above half hidden by the black rubber pipe which runs horizontally across the head.
I've seen some of these blanked on later vts engines (for the air pump is it?) with a proper screw on cover but I find it strange that its just open to the atmosphere

That hole wouldn't cause any problems mate, you would have notice the jp4 engines have these bloked off. its something to do with reducing the emmisions for the mk2 jp4 engines

Its like an erg hole many people block the hole... I can make a photo of mine I have it working and not blocked.
