rear axle lowering - baffled!

  1. #1
basically fit a new axle onto the pug todday as the old was was beyond fooooocked!
anyway fit the new axle and i have no idea how much it was lowered by previously but eitherway it sat like a freaking monster truck! so lowered it by 45mm to see how it sat at that leverl, so anyway the drivers side went down the 45mm but the passenger side went down a bit but no the 45mm! all measuremnets were double checked etc before sll bolted back together!

but anyway 45mm as it was wasnt low enough so lowered it by another 30mm and drivers side sat bang on , but passenger side went down abit but not the 30mm again!

so very confused i stripped the passenger side again and lowered that on its own an extra 15mm which i calculated meant it should sit bang on as the other side, but once again it still wouldnt sit level?! it went down abit more not the 15mm if that makes any sense?

    any ideas as to why?!

    cheers

how are you lowering? moving the arm up and down, or using a dummy damper
  3. #3
pull the torsion bar out, jack the arm to the desired height and then tap the torsion bar back in dude

    Anyone?

obviously wasn't set right to begin with, you need a dummy damper

Dummy damper? And I assume they are! Just pulled em out and moved the trailing arm accordingly and back in they went! And yeah hand brake is off, build it all up etc then drop it down dude

Ah I get ya! Shouldn't really need that though tbh
I'm just so confused as to why it won't match up!
Thing is when adjusted up in the air both sides match up measurement wise, but when you out the wheels back on and drop it down then it's its unlevel!
