Vts manifold blow

  1. #1
Any particular point they like to leak from? Done it all up albeit with a used but looks good gasket and it seems to still blow although doesn't appear to be by bad by the head itself? It's not underneath either where it joins the cat. Lambda is up tight too so I'm a bit stumped other than the joint between upper and lower half but that looks good.
It's a standard exhaust by the way

Ok so it was a VTR, but I had a right pain in the arse time stopping the manifold leaking. In the end I used a bit high temp silicone either side of the gasket and it done the job.

Think I might do something similar mate. Been sealing up it tonight yet not got very far, motorfactors round here don't do the gasket or wanted silly money for it (one place quoted 30 quid!). Why can't you get composite-ish type ones like vtr gaskets? They seemed to work just fine

No chance of that happening i'm afraid. Luckily a motor factors local to my work have got one on the shelf so i'm gonna go grab it.

Just been to get a new gasket and downpipe gasket to cat mesh gasket. £3~ for the mesh one £19 for the manifold gasket! Guess you have to pay through the nose if you need to get stuff done quickly

Fucking hell i paid a fiver for the manifold->head one from the pug dealer.

Check that the bracket on the bottom hasnt rotted and pulled a tiny hole in the mani.

it seems to leak from near the top but i'll check that out mate, I couldnt see anything when I had a glance at it before fitting though. Seems they dont even make an aftermarket gasket that goes between the manifold and downpipe
