Hi, I have bought a saxo off my pal on the weekend it was laid up for around 2 months. Worked fine before this. Now when I went to collect it the battery was flat. So after a nights charge I went to start it. The immobiliser light was flashing. Couldn't start it. Considering this is my first and probably my only ever citroen I haven't a clue what's happening. So I got a guy out to reprogram the key and box. No luck. So I went to change the ecu relay. It started this morning after clicking the new relay in. Then cut out and now the flashing immobiliser light is back yet again to haunt me. I have cleaned up all the earth points on the car. I've tried starting it with and without the immobiliser box I've tried starting it with the ecu in and the box out. I've tried changing the transmitter on the ignition barrel. I've tried pretty much everything on this forum. Unless I have missed something. Please help before I scrap a clean motor.

#2When turning the engine over should the Rev counter be still or at 900rpm?

#3Bit of a blinde question but does tge light go out when u can start it. Does it just flash on then off to say key recog. Would a loose bulb cause the flashing regardless if engine can start??

#4The light flashes non stop until I turn the ignition off. Regardless of whether I'm turning the engine over or not.
Im not sure the immobiliser is kicking in because there would be a loose bulb somewhere? All help is appreciated. I'm seriously close to scrapping the car now. :'( -
#5Could it be a dodgy bulb and could u replace the immob unit rather than scrap the car

#6Replace the immobiliser? Then it wouldn't read the key? And sorry I must have misunderstood but what bulb are you referring to?

#7I just had a new key cut inc immob chip for 40 quid at timpson. They read chip from current key n just prog new one there n then.
U say u bypassed immob n car started. Do u want or need it?
Bulb in dash could have poor connx. Just a thought.
I fibd tge hardest jobs sometimes have the simplest solutions.
Im a novice here n with cars but always use process of illimination.

#8Once the car starts I can remove the immobiliser.I can't bypass it as it's stopping the car from sparking. So you took the immobiliser and key to timpson and they recoded them?

#9I'm not to sure about OBDI systems, so this could be wrong, but on some OBDII cars, you can simply have the immobiliser disabled and then start it with a standard cut key (This is how a breakdown company would get you going if your transponder key failed)
You can also start some cars (CANBUS ONLY) using a laptop and a module connected to the car, only downside to an old car is the manual steering lock :-/
How many keys do you have? and you could hold the second key near the lock and try starting with the first key -
#10No just too key to timpson they got code off orig key chip.

#11I only have the one key. The thing I can't get my head around is that it started this morning then died and went back to square one.

#12Do you have breakdown cover? get them to "plug it in"

#13I do have breakdown cover but not sure they would do this?
