Heat shield opinions

What's peoples opinion on running without the centre section heat shield that covers the handbrake cables etc..

I've read some threads for and others against. I'd like to either remove or modify mine so I can fit my stiffer exhaust rubbers without my dummy cat hitting on the heat shield.

You'll be fine with or without it.

Dummy cat shouldnt hit it when a std cat doesnt even come close to it. Even with the stiffer bushes

I believe it's because a normal cat is flatter, the dummy cat on the saxsport is round

I havent got either on mine.

Just recently took the handbrake one off as the bolts had snapped underneath and were vibrating on the exhaust.

Had to take my front one out to fit my quickshifter!

    Been fine for 4 years.

    Extra weight innit.

    I don't run one.

Plus if you want to adjust the handbrake it's a reet pain in the balls having to drop the exhaust and heatshield.

at least you can get under the car at the back end without a jack...

Or this friday, if its raining, everyone can stand under it and enjoy a nice, cool, refreshing beverage.
