Important! : Intermittent Engine Prime and High, Steady Idle

Hi Guys, new problem with the Saxo.

When I turn the ignition on, intermittently the fuel pump wont prime, thus engine won’t start. Seems to be fixed by removing key, internally locking doors, and trying again. Possibly immobiliser, but no other issues and warning light isn’t on.

The car is also running a high idle once engine is warm, noticeable when pulling up to a junction or stopping. It will sit at 1500'ish for a good minute then drop back to normal.

    Could these issues be related?

I was thinking earth fault for fuelling issue, but have checked/cleaned the 3 under the bonnet, (any others?) and hasn’t made a difference.

I plugged the fault reader in, no errors showing. Car recently had a new Lambda due to a random misfire, and the fuelling issue did happen once or twice prior to this.

    Thoughts???

    Thanks!!

im not 100% on this but with the whole fuel pump priming mine will prime only
once when the key is turned, if you remove the key and turn it again it doesn't
prime im guessing because the system is already pressured now,

but if you start her up, and then remove the key and turn it to ignition it primes
again. so see if that's the case. otherwise i'd start by checking the relay get someone to listen or hold the relay and see if it clicks upon ignition. cheapest and easiest thing to replace first.

as for your idle issue sounds like it could be the idle control valve
