Cable gear link

  1. #1
    Hi all

Has anyone ever changed the standard shite gear linkages for the cable ones on a C2 etc. I assume it's just a case of installing some brakets for the cable outer ends to fit to, and mounting the gear stick/mechanism? Any ideas? I haven't looked at one on a car but have had a look through the service box, and a well adjusted setup should have less play than the saxo/ax standard slop.

    Cheers

Seen it done on a 106 before but think the 106 was running a BE box which has a cable shift as standard.

I had heard that about the BE box as that's what the C2 uses. Presumably though it is just still levers with balls on the end, and then the cable fits over that? I figured that as you can convert a BE to run standard gear linkages, you must be able to convert MA to run cables...

Of course, if you were so inclined, once you go cable you can go sequential shifter - even on an H pattern traditional gearbox

And cheap as well! Ha! I'll try and get a look at a c2 in a scrappy and go from there. Cheers guys.
