Hand brake wtf problem [SOLVED]

  1. #1
Right, ive just done a handbrake cable change including new discs and pads for the rear on my 106.

Problem is even with the handbrake fully adjusted it doesn't apply any force to the rear brakes at all when i pull it up, so the wheels still spin free. One more so than the other.

no idea why they dont work. the pistons wound back in when i changed the discs/pads easy enough...and they stop the wheels solid when i use the foot brake...

    any suggestions?

Sounds like you pulled the handbrake up before pumping the foot brake and pushing the pistons out.

You need to undo the handbrake cables and then lever the handbrake lever on the calliper undone. Basically, if the lever travels too far it stops working and needs resetting. I can't remember if you need to take the lever apart or not.

    Thanks for the reply,

do you mean the levers on the callipers? as i can turn those with my hand very easily which to me felt very odd seeing as i had just fitted brand new pads/discs.

That's correct. They kinda click over onto another notch that doesn't work.
