  1. #1
Hey guy, had some welding done on the car and he has stated that i should put some antitrust spray or paint on the under body of the car.

Just wondering if anybody can recommend on what i can put underneath for maximum protection.

    Thankyou

If it's still bare metal then clean it, zinc primer, underseal of some sort, paint and lacquer.

    That should sort it out.

    It's not.

I was told by loads of people this was the best stuff.. So tried it on mine, And before a year was up it was falling off in places.

Also can lock waater under it and make the car even more rusty.

So i'd go for the zinc primer method and respray if I was doing it again.

It's all in the prep. If you strip the metal right back, use zinc primer and then put the waxoyl on and paint over the top, it will last substantialy longer than without the waxoyl.

hammerite spray, done my engine bay with it and never have a spec of rust afterwards. Even their grey colour was such a close match most would not tell it had been done.

I got a few mates who do 4x4 off roading and this is what they prep their Landys, Depends how you prep and apply it,

Also if you hit the ford forms you will see its popular witht he likes of people who use classics fords like Cosworths and Escort RS turbos if they are using them in the winter

Its also what I'll be applying to my car this year, Best way to apply it is heat it up slightly so it goes thin and apply it using an air compressor BTW,

IF you just tried to paint it on I could see how that wont last and also you need to clean all contaminants off the paint work before applying it

Here another thread here about the same thing,

    http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...=445508&page=2

It seems its underseal that seals the moisture in not waxoyl,

as said I've got mate who have used this stuff on Land rovers for years and never had a problem and we know they are good at rotting away unless you are lucky yo have one with a galvanised chassis.
