Turns over but doesnt Start - Mobile Mechanic Glasgow?

  1. #1
    Hi Guys,
Car has packed up at work. It turns over ok, but doesnt fire. Checked all the useual suspects; fuses, inertia switch, battery. But no luck.

Imobiliser light doesnt appear on dash, so dont think its that and I can hear the fuel pump prime when ignition is turned.

Any ideads on problem? Don't really have any tools at work. Does anyone know a decent, but cheap, mobile mechanic around Glasgow??

    Thanks, Fraser.

    Is it firing at all?

Has the coil pack come unplugged somehow? It's obviously got fuel in yeah?

Nope doesnt fire, just cranks on starter.

It doesnt appear to be unplugged, connections all seem tight enough.
Yeah, half a tank in it.

Was fine on the drive in, parked it, came back after a couple hours to nothing happening.

Have you tried disconnecting the battery and then connecting it again?

    Crank sensor hasn't come unplugged/loose?

Try fuel down the throttle body if it fires sounds like the same problem as me lol

You both need to remove the inlet pipe work and get to the front of the gearbox and make sure your crank position sensors are not full of oil and/or loose. I had this problem 2 weeks ago and the AA couldn't find anything, fuel was getting to the rail and it would turn over but no spark. Once I had found the sensor it was full of oil and the retainer part of the clip was broke so its free to slide in and out, I cleaned it up and refitted it then the car fired first time.

Mines is power at the pump it primes but doesnt start away to run a live feed to pump from ignition with 10amp fuse

B-Christie - Think we have the same kind of issue. Car turns over fine, wants to fire, but doesn't. No fuel coming out of the line when removed from the rail, but fuel pump does prime when ignition is turned tho. Did you get it working??

I've also changed crank sensor but no joy.

    Update:
Tested fuel pump with a direct live, works fine and fuel makes it to the rail, but not getting fuel to rail when cranking, so engine won't start.
I've replaced the crank sensor - the one on the bottom left of the gearbox. Are there any others which would give the issue described?

Sounds like a the fuel pump / injector relay has packed up
