Airbag light on after soldering resistors

  1. #1
I've just soldered resistors to both seat wires and the steering wheel.

    Light has stayed on!

    Any ideas?

Have you crashed, has your airbag deployed?
  3. #3
No, don't believe that's happened mate. There's no airbag on the steering wheel at all as it aftermarket.

I think the seats I have may have been in an accident (low speed) but they aren't plugged in.

Dude, if you've not got any airbags any more just remove the airbag ECU and wiring harness, the light doesn't come on at all then and there's no evidence there should be an airbag system installed.

As he says, just rip its brain out, its in front of the gear stick iirc like under the dash on the central thingymabobbins

I've still got the passenger airbag though, pretty big hole to fill :/

Anyone any ideas as to why it would have stopped on?

Ditch the passenger airbag too, can fill the hole with a mk1 glovebox if you're that bothered

What size res did you put in?
  10. #10
2.7 ohm is the magic number!

    1-3ohm usually does work though.

Could be you've heated one of the resistors too much or you've soldered a dry joint.

I did mine under the column and not under seats.

Not sure on resistor size. Got them off a lad on here that did his and they worked.

    Dry joint?

Dry joint is when it looks like it's joined, but the solder isn't actually stuck.

    ^^^

    That confuses me! ha

    joints are probably okay

the resistors are stuck to the wire with the solder and dont move, so im assuming they are ok??? :/

Havent fiddled with resistors since school 10 years ago!
