Bad misfire

   Just recently bought a saxo vtr 2001 phase 2 and i was on motorway doing about 80 and all of a sudden it lost power and kicked a big puff of smoke out so i pulled over and turned it off , turned it bavk on and it was fine and now two weeks later it has developed a really bad misfire and code is p300 ? Could anyone give me any info on what it could be as im at a total loss not being mechanically minded ? It also said catalytic convertor wasnt working correctly could it be this ?

   Faulty coil pack.

   Would that cause the misfire pal?
