lowered 40mm on rear banging?

Hi got an axle already lowered by 40mm. got it on and every little bump I go over its banging quite loud. Thought it was the anti roll bar as this was loose until put my other one in and the plate is still tight against trailing arm. Could it be shocks? Or will it be hitting the bump stops at 40mm?. Need this sorting so can get front done, if not think im gonna give up on lowering. Cheers

Loose shock absorber bolt,or arb end plate bolt.

Could it be the bar itself banging inside the shaft?. The end plates are tight though. Should it feel like standard just a bit stiffer down 40mm?. Cheers

Also worth checking the rear brake caliper bolts, I had a loose one once which sounded exactly like the ARB end plate.

If the plates are loose is it like a pinging sound it makes?. If so it cant be that its like the bang it makes when hit a bump at speed. Think im gonna put the shocks off my old axle on and see if that improves it. Their standard by the way as are the ones on now. Think its 40mm down the arch is level with top of the tyre. Any more ideas?? Cheers

shock bolts and caliper bolts, failing that you could check the actual beam bolts as well, that's the only bolts on the beam really if the ARB end plates are tight.

Cheers ill make sure to check them aswell. And surely if the arb was knockin about inside id hear metal on metal pretty loud no?. Can anti roll bars come out of their seating even if the end plate is tight?

No, it's basically the length of the beam tube. If the end plates are tight it should be fine.

Ill rule that out for now then. What should the ride be like at that height with standard shocks?. I also noticed its a lot bouncier than my standard axle was and the shocks are more or less fully compressed. Maybe these have been on a while and need replacing??. Cheers again

Well just looked under car to see a shock absorber bolt and nut nearly on the end ready to come off. Not tightened it yet, but it must be that I hope. Took a while to find this problem because the arb was loose the pads have no spring clips in and the shock bolt loose and wheel cage loose aswell. No wonder lol. My mechanic is gettin told tomorrow.
