206 blue smoke -uh oh

right guys on the way back going down some deserted country roads in my mrs 206. same engine as the vts/gti 1.6 16v,

After some hard acceleration up to national speed limit, i came to a set of lights, and checking my mirror all i can see is blue smoke behind me, pretty bad. think oh shit better pull over asap.

i pull up and no smoke is coming out the back box.

Now i know when this car is first started up each day blue smoke always appears then after a second its gone.

Is this valve stem seals, or is it the rings on the way out?

if its over a period of time that its sat then when fired up blue smoke comes out id go with the valve stems seals dude as while its sat the oil would seep through into the cylinders

    probs the stems mate

hotter the oil gets the thinner it gets

check the cam breaters arent blocked up

bit more progress on my car is up too

I am hoping to fuck its stem seals.

Can i swap stem seals with the head on? it had a head gasket change done around 15k ago with mls gasket by the prev owner.

nah mate head has to come off to remove the valves sadly..

you can risk it.. ppl fill the cylinders with rope trough the spark plug hole to stop the valve dropping into the cylinder..but its not easy

youtube it.. theres plenty vids about

    AH fuck it.

well i have got a head that i can swap sitting in my garage,

im thinking of rebuilding that head and doing a swap over then as time is not on my side. ideally i need to do it in a weekend.

Better get started on rebuilding my spare head then.

see if you can find a cheap jp4 and just whack the whole engine in.. may work out cheaper

If its under load but ok on idle or steady speed, then it may be blowby from a blocked breather, check that the cam cover breather is free.

Right, found out that the water temp gauge has been sitting in and out of the red zone. For practically 3 months. Gfs car so as you can imagine im fuckin happy right now. Car has not boiled over to my knowledge no steam or anything whilst out on the road.

Had the car idling today, gauge creeped into the red and boiled over without the radiator cap on, it only boiled over when it went into the red. fan did not kick in at all....

i have blue smoke on every single start up hot or cold.

its not blowing blue smoke constantly, or when i rev it.

Now im guessing there's two big scenarios here.

no.1 the head gasket has failed including a warped head etc - However coolant looks clean and no sludge on the oil/rad filler caps.

no.2 the rings have been fried and possible further damage has been caused. which is why i have blue smoke on every start up.

I hope and pray its only cooked the valve stem seals maybe?

Any oil loss at all? Maybe it's not mixing oil and coolant but it's burning it off/pressurising cooling system too

no oil loss i checked the levels last weekend, and there the same today.

with it pressurising the coolant system, there are no bubbles or anything like that in the header tank.

Think my best option, is to get the fan fixed, and do a compression test and go from there.

I cant see stem seals causing so much oil to seep into the cylinders, every time i turn the car off, and then straight back on, blue smoke appears which leads me to believe the oil rings have failed. no smoke upon acceleration, or at idle.
