fuel sender unit problem

   hi new to forum i have a vtr and fuel sender unit went so i had to replace, i used the one of my doner vrs i changed over with no problems but now the car cuts out when ever it wants and the sender unit stops (cant hear it working sucking up fuel (buzzing), i turn ignition on and off few times and it starts working again im not sure if it sender unit or something else just after a bit off advise any help would be much appreciated

   Vts and VTR pumps are different, VTS have a fuel return. May be part of your problem.

   both the fuel pumps have a return and have same part code? it was what i fort a like for like swap im completely baffled

   could it be electrical to stop the pump running (doggy wire) or if the fuel pump gets blocked while drivng could this shut off the pump? could it just need a clean out im so stuck

   just brought another sender unit and so far so good but not sure why the old one not working it was working when in the original car
