Just got home from work, cleaned the car bodywork and wheels nothing touched under the bonnet... Started her up to park on driveway and it sounded like a tractor! Engine light on, engine moving about, exhaust rattling about... Eventually got it on drive switched her off then instantly back on again and it runs perfectly, left it running 5 mins then turned her off then back on again and again runs fine. Any clues coz I'm confused?!

#2Faulty coilpack I would have said. Did it sounds like it was misfiring.Quote:Just got home from work, cleaned the car bodywork and wheels nothing touched under the bonnet... #3A topic title that actually gives a hint to a problem might be useful. I was expecting a video link to an impressionist.
I'd go for coilpack too, intermittent misfire should be fairly easy to trace. -
#4Thanks for the helpful replies and the sarcastic topic comment

#5As much as you're sure you didn't spray water in the bay, it sounds like you did. Running on 3 cylinders because of water ingress, then when the water evaporates as the engine gets warm it runs fine...
If you blasted the grille that could be enough. -
#6Must be that, just been out for a drive and it's fine.... 21 years of cleaning cars and never managed that before!

#7change coilpack anyway, i had issues with rough running in damp weather and it was the coilpack breaking apart, the rubber boots had stuck into the head so the connection was shite
