Engine Oil Consumption

   Hello guys, i can't fathom where is the problem. First of all, I've c. saxo VTR 1997, with 128000 mileages. The engine doesn't consume oil at low speeds and low revs. But if i'm going to sport ride and the engine(until the motor heats up :-) ) dialing to high revs around 5000/min, engine takes a lot of oil at the end... My friends gave me advice, that i should change piston rings... Thanks for answers (sorry for bad english)

   Which oil are you using?
   
   How much does it consume?

   Compression test it before you think about rings.

   Check for oil leaks too.

   We're using TOTAL 10w40, its recommended for peugeots and citroens...

   It'll be leaking from the cam cover most likely.
   
   Give the whole engine a wipe with cloth to clean it and then go for a quick run.
   
   check it over again and the leak will become apparent.
