dealing with rust

   Hi guys need some help on whats best to do with rust. Got a few patches on my inner wings and by the drainage pipes in the sunroof.
   I've had a light poke about at it and seems to only be surface rust so I hope that this means no welding.
   Can anyone recommend a process to dealing with it and making sure it doesn't come back.

   Had surface rust in the exact same place in the sunroof area, some idiot at Peugeot/Citroen thought it would be a good idea to not put the drainage pipes at the lowest point in the drainage area I just rubbed it down, treated and painted.

   What did you mean by treated and what paint did you use?

   Clean rust up to bare metal,then paint phospheric acid on(ebay)Then red oxide.
