Sungun

    So I wanted a sungun.

Then I found out they're £500. Fuck that.

    then I found this:

or buy one ready made from ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sun-Gun-De...item3ce4b37573

Anyone actually got one? Advantages over the halogen flood lights (porta-light builders style things) I have now?

Not interested in perfect colour rendition, more swirl spotting.

Funnily enough as soon as I read the title that thread came to mind. I imagine the benefit is portability and being able to direct light from all angles to spot any swirls. Useful if your working at some elses with room restrictions or not enough power outlets etc...

Cheers old man. I hadn't thought of the portability aspect, like working on someone elses car etc. Good shout.

I quite fancy making one, not to actually use on paint but just cos its a cool project lol

yeah me too - but when you add up the value of parts and buy the stuff, it's about a £5 saving to make one rather than buy the one someones made on ebay lol. Can't be arsed for that effort/saving ratio

However, the time spent building it means less time working...

I made the one that is on DW. Very bright! If used for a fairly long period the battery doesn't last too long. For the amount it cost to make, it's well worth making.
