   Iron blocked 8v with oil heat exchanger. Near impossible to make out the engine code.
   
   
   
   
   
   Supposedly an S2 Rallye engine but the engine loom doesnt seem right and the bit at the end of the cam (under where the coil pack would sit) seems different from what I remember late 8vs looking like.

   its not a late 8v cos the vlave cover is black --it is a series 1 somenthing

   have you taken the cam end cap off yet?
   If its a 1.6 with the J cam it could be a 1.6 xsi unit but Im not sure if they had the heat exchanger.
   That or the head/cam end cap been swapped as you need the bigger one to support the early coilpack and thats got the cap on it from a over-plug coilpack engine.
