Snapped manifold stud

Took the manifold of the VTS I have in preparation for the conversion into my VTR. No problems taking the manifold off and removed every stud no problem. Came to the last stud, and its being a bastard.

First of all it snapped in half, but left enough room to still get two nuts on:

No matter how hard if screwed the nuts together they still both spun together and the stud wouldn't budge. After 2 hours I lost my rag and thought of something new.

Cut a slit in the stud to try and get a flat head in to turn the stud, still no luck its still stuck in, and now I have lost the ability to get a nut back on it.

So now I'm lost for ideas, other than welding a nut on, which isn't an option as the car is obviously off the road and I don't fancy paying for a mobile welder to come out.

Cut as much off as you can & leave it, one broken will be fine

got a welder? try welding a nut to the end and using a big breaker bar. I wouldn't really wanna leave it broken tbh

Id like to sort it really, welding a nut on isn't really an option as I don't want to pay a welder to come and do it

As cam says you'll be fine. I dont have one in due to the alternator being in the way, i can't get it in unless i drop the alternator (eurgh).

Guess you could chop it right back, drill it and retap it??

Right i know it's got the manifold removed, but if you're able to start the car and leave it running for a while, the put some mole grips on the stud.

Mole grips and some heat from a blow torch ( round the stud )

Like above heat and a decent set of mole grips should get it out!

Got all brand new nuts and studs to go in, taken from what people have said I will try and get it out tomorrow, if not it won't be a massive issue. Cheers fellas.
