Broken airbag ring

  1. #1
Hi, so the other day I broke the airbag ring on my car, more specifically, the peice of plastic that sits 90 degrees to the ring that hooks into the oem steering wheel (in the photo, the bit that sits with the black wire coming out of it). I need a new one, so have a few questions.

Firstly, how hard is it do take the old one out and put a new one in? Is it just a case of a few screws? Also, how hard is it to find where the orange wire and plug go to?
And lastly, would the ring be the same on a 106 that has an airbag?

Is this ring i'm on about also called a squib?
    Thanks all

Yes it's also called a squib,& there is also a guide on here.Search in removing steering wheel. The wiring is straightforward,106 squib is the same but on both saxo's & 106's there are two different types of plug early models use orange plugs later 1's use a brown plug & can't be mixed & matched.http://www.saxperience.com/forum/sho...38#post2466438

    Very easy to change.

    Disconnect the battery.
Remove cover round steering column (Couple of torx bolts)
The there are two holes at the back of the wheels to undo the airbag (Again torx)
    Unplug the Airbag
    Remove the cable and replace

Once apart very obvious where the plugs go.

I have one for sale if you need one, PM me.

Ok so its just a case of matching the part number of my broken squib, good
And thanks for the link, I've read that guide but never thought to read it past the actual steering wheel removal!
