What have you filled it up with? It should be a 75w80, use total transmission bv too not comma or something budget like that

Using a budget oil would make a box sound like a space ship? Is there really that much difference, surely the box would still sound like a spaceship no matter what oil I put in

Yes there is a big difference it's the grade of oil used is totally wrong. Did the box have problems before you did the work?
  7. #7
No not really oil seal went and sounded odd because of oil loss, fixed it all then sounded 3 times as bad
  8. #8
I did use comma oil just looked at receipt 75/80

Hmm chances are the box being ran dry has damaged it

Might just scrap the bloody thing mot next month and I'm not
Going to spend money on a French car

You can get a used gearbox for about 30 quid surely it's worth spending that to keep it on the road?

It's fitting the thing that costs money as I haven't the time to mess about

Who replaced the seal then? Once you've got the shafts out and stuts off to change the seals the box removal itself isn't too bad a job
  14. #14
I done the seals but never again that drivers side shaft was a t*** lol

if youve ran it dry the diff will be noisy as fuck.

new box sould sort it...unless its the shaft making the noise.. have you fitted the bearing carrier properly? sounds like you had some bother with it
