Important! : Service Question

  1. #1
    Hello,

Bought a Saxo Desire 1.1 5Dr last week interior is very clean the car has a few little scuffs and has 91000 miles on the clock, It passed its MOT last month, I want to get it serviced as i think its been stood since its MOT because it had the smalled amount of juice we had to fill a petrol can to get it home, and a few tires are cracked, the clutch is a bit notchy and stiff and squeaks i understand the clutch is cable driven so maybe its sort of dried out being stood, i got a quote on a service for £120, the mechanic said £120 all in, i just wanted to ask what it means when a mechanic says all in does this mean the oil is changed and filter etc for £120 as i dont want to take it for a service to be told its going to be more than £120 when i pick the car up. The car was £520 but the owner put 6 months tax on it before we took it.

    Thanks

    Simon

Best to ask the mechanic, what he will do at this service!

All in with any price usually means with VAT included, but as above ask what's included. An oil & filter change is only a part service & how did the car get an mot with cracked tyres?(not having a moan)

I will ask, and thats what i was thinking its either been stood for a month and the weight of the car has done it or hes changed 1 of them to use on another car, the other tires are fine just 1 rear one has become cracked i checked the MOT status of the car and HPI everything is legit.

If all in means full service, then that means all fluids and filters changed + spark plugs. Anything else is a part service.

See picture below for full service.

If you ask me its a rip off. I had one just because I got the car and wanted to see what's what then after having service noticed their was more to do than their service check provided managed to get a refund tho as went elsewhere and done free checks that was meant to be done in service but wasn't done correctly went back advised well your telling me this is not needed to be done yet it does..

Your best off booking into a halfords near by and having a free tests done and then you can brake down the cost. Just get the free checks done then its up to you where you go to get the work done.. saves you £140 to £200 just for a service when you can have the checks done free and then get the parts and take to local garage and get done a lot cheaper.
