My oil indicator snapped! What do I do? (Citroen Saxo 1.1 Desire)

   Hello all,
   
   I was checking my Citroen Saxo 1.1 Desire oil level this morning as I bought the car yesterday and I wiped the oil and put the stick back.
   
   I heard a SNAP.. And noticed the actual oil reading level is snapped!!
   
   Now, I'm not sure if this will affect anything?
   
   Can I just purchase a new one and replace it or should I try and get the snapped piece removed?

   If you want it out you can take the sump off and it'll be there. I do to think it'll do any harm as the oil pump won't suck it up as it won't go through the mesh.

   Yep unbolt the dipstick holder fish out the remnants of the old one,then buy a new one.

   Would this cause oil to leak out?

   It'll be fine just buy a new one. It happens on ny Saxo twice. Done 165000 miles no problems.
