Central Locking Not Working?

  1. #1
Hi all, my central locking hasn't been used for a couple of years (module was disconnected during this time), I've now reconnected the unit and the central locking wasn't functioning, I've since changed the battery in the fob too but still nothing is happening?

Can the memory of the fob/receiver get wiped if not used for long periods? If so can I sync them up again?

Or do I need a new (working) fob and receiver pair?

It's for my mk2 VTS if that makes any difference?

    Thanks in advance.

If that doesn't work try unlocking the car with the key then keep pressing the fob button within the following 20 seconds

I've got delocked front doors, would this work if I did it with the boot as that's the only door which can be opened with a key?

I don't see why it wouldn't work providing it activates all the other locks by the key in the boot

Tried everything listed, still no central locking, any other ideas chaps?

Unless anyone else comes along with any ideas, I'm guessing maybe they can lose their code after a long time of not being used. Personally, if that's the case I'd look at fitting an after market remote central locking system. Will probably be cheaper than having citroen or a locksmith reprogramme the original system and the after market ones are quite simple to fit.

Hopefully it's ok to post this link but just found this

Could be worth trying all of citroen methods. I know when I was fitting alarms I would find the odd metro remote that would program the same way as another rover even though they should of been different sequences
