Handbrake adjustment

   Ok this might sound a stupid question but when tightening up the handbrake cable is it ok to do it with the wheels off the ground or should it be be on the ground I.e does it make a difference? First time I've done this so just wanted to make sure I'm doing it right.

   Doesn't make a difference! Just lift the handbrake to 3 notches high then tighten the cable. Don't over tighten it though, but the handbrake should hold the car on the 3rd notch I believe to pass an MOT

   That's all good then going to give it a go tomorrow at least it should be easy to get at the adjuster since I hadto rip my heatshields off because the bolts snapped haha! Should try and re attach them really though..

   Haha yeah easy access...(that's what she said) but yeah you should get the heat shield back on when you can!

   Haha.. Yeah just not sure on how to get them back on since the threads snapped off the body off the car imagine the only way is drill new holes but then I was wondering if I might end up drilling up through the carpet then hmm..

   Drill the old bolts out, or just drill into the floor, don't think you'll go through the carpet. I had to do same on a few of mine

   What did you use to re attach them? Bolt and nut combo?

   Noo I used one of them bolts with a screw thread on, so a screw haha a screw with a hex head I only needed about 3 doing though

   Ahh right good idea that, I'll have to sort it out when I get some time I've got 5 snapped, garage did 2 when they adjusted the handbrake last time so it started hanging down then I snapped 3 more pulling them off because it was rattling like mad
