purge valve

hi just a quick question, i took my purge valve off today as a fault code came up something like "vacuum purge valve wiring circut" so when i took the pipe off from the charcoal canister to the purge valve, liquid came out the pipe and the purge valve was full too lol... Any ideas how this might of happened? I'v blown it out with air and seems to work ok, just slightly worried about liquid getting in to the engine
    its a 1.6 vts btw

    What type liquid was it?
If the valve has been unable to open for some time the fuel vapour that has collected in the carbon canister has probaly condensed back into petrol in liquid form.
Have you over filled the fuel tank?

I'm not to sure it didn't smell of fuel, the only thing I was thinking it could be injection cleaner as it had a slight smell of white spirits 😁 I always fill the tank right up when I get fuel as my fuel needle gets stuck at half way sometimes lol

Petrol loses it's odur over time a petrol scooter i brought that had been stored for 4 years had fuel that smelt of white spirits.
I would remove the canister and purge valve and ckean them out with fresh petrol or carb ceaner let them dry then refit them and don't fill the tank so fuel is in the filler neck.
Is the engine management light on?

That's good to know, I got worried at first thinking it was water 😬 I have removed the purge valve and cleaned it out but wasn't to sure how to get the canister out? No the engine management light wasn't on even tho a fault came up with the purge valve on the diagnostics test
