How much would it cost to replace all 4 tyres?

  1. #1
    Hello,

    Me again

I need to replace all 4 tyres on my Citroen Saxo 1.1 but unsure how much this would cost?

On my old car I got second hand tyres, and those were dreadful so this time I'm going to buy new tyres.

Does anyone know how much it would cost around to buy and fit 4 tyres at a garage?

I would imagine about £50 a corner (you have 4 of them btw).

I was on camskill earlier, their cheapest 15" tyres were £32 a corner

so if you have 14's you could probably get a set of WangChamps fitted for a ton

Hardly, you can't really have expected to pay less than £100 for all 4?

it will cost more than buying tyres on the internet and having them fitted. Then if you go for the cheapest set of chimikogrips, the car will handle like a bar of soap and return shit mpg.

Never understood this. Unless you are a spirited driver then I doubt it will make a fart of difference, other than possibly water displacement when on a motorway.

I have driven a few 1.1s before on budget 13s. The difference is obvious in roundabouts, you'll feel the understeer much sooner. Absolutely no grip in wet weather not to mention breaking distance. Much more than just a fart of difference with mpg, which makes it a false economy in the long run.

Also they wear out much faster.

Haha I was expecting to pay this but only just paid for other bits and pieces for my car so yeah, can be annoying!

You're forgetting he drives a 1.1. He will die of boredom before causing harm to himself via speed.

I didn't forget, and I was talking about the handling. Should you need to perform some emergency braking even just once will be a scary experience. In the wet you'll lose control and that's about it. You can't speed on these anywhere, as it's understeer everywhere.

I completely agree - even my old 'Daewoo Lanos' handled better than this car.

In a 60mph speed limit, I have to turn corners about 30-40 mph otherwise, yeah..

You could get some mid ranged tyres fitted for about £150, not that much more really and would be worth the extra to keep you on the road
