Driveshaft problem

  1. #1
    Afternoon all,

Ive just had both of my driveshafts changed.

Unfortunately, there is a grinding/squeeking sound that has developed when turning right.

Any ideas what this could be? Theyve been fitted by a garage and been on the car for a week tomorrow!!!

    im a bit raging tbh!

    let me know

correct drive shaft for the wheel bearings you have in ?

cheapo driveshaft? fouling on the circlip for the wheel bearing? i had that grinding noise which was the driveshaft fouling on the circlip

go back to the garage and tell them to fix it?

Yes correct driveshafts for the car. both tapered

Driveshafts are from J&R driveshafts, heard nothing but good things!

    Not as good as OEM.

I've been through 2 and i drive like normal compared to most, but alot have got away with none failing.

So they're shit and not shit. Inbetween

Really? I'm not sure ive ever had OEM ones on mine (Price for OEM?)

But to last less than a week? surely thats not true?

they do come with a 3 year warranty.

Have you lost any grease from the cv boot?

I'm not sure? I'll give it a check over tomorrow.

Found the problem, noticed my tyre was lower PSI than should be. No more squeeking (Weird)
  11. #11
not weird at all if you think about it...

I did think about it after. Makes perfect sense. Alters the angle of the shaft. Marvellous.

The squeaking can be the tyre deforming as the car turns. Depends how low it was

sorry to bring this back to the top, but i have bought two new drive shafts for my vtr mk2.
Correct me if im wrong but i should also replace the seals on the gearbox or is it not necessary?
