imaxles Recon beam

  1. #1
I'm so common in this section...

Last year November I had a recon axle from imaxles delivered, and fit by a garage in Bristol. Had no problems whatsoever since, but lately there has been awful squeaking going on, and the odd metal clanking sound.
So as stated, the axle has been on less than a year and I'm having problems already. Not sure where I stand with this, not stating the axle was dodgy, but again I don't know what's the problem.

Someone suggested contacting imaxles and complaining, but again, I'm fairly sure the garage who fitted my axle didn't send off my previous axle (which I'm certain is their policy when it comes to refunds/repairs).

Phone the garage that fitted it and ask if IM axles collected it.

May not be the axle, could be the rear shocks mate.

Prickle has the same thing at the minute. IM are sorting it out for him.

Only way for you to find out is ring IM and tell them the crack, just don't mention if the axle was sent back or not.

Had a prod about earlier and checked the rear arb end plate bolts, both were dead tight and not loose as far as I can tell. So just gotta poke about check other things I suppose, any other ideas Stevo like smaller things?

I'll give him a pm and see how things going.
Not a bad call thanks, nothing to lose.

Whip the carpet up in the boot and check the four mounting bolts are secure.

    Car is stripped lol.

Issue with imaxles, I didn't purchase the axle, the trader I bought the car off did so I have no proof of anything. Presumably the trader won't still have any documentation of it now either, so unsure what the next move is.
My old man apparently still has the blokes number, but he was such a dodgy cunt to deal with about the whole axle issue previously. Ordered a vtr axle from ebay at first, literally had no clue.

IM will probably have a record.

Was it you who bought the motor with a dodgy mot as in it had 12 months ticket but the beam was shagged.

    Yeah haha that was me.

IM seem keen enough to help anyone out who has issues. You get a year warranty and even outside the warranty they are keen to help.

But investigate yourself or at a garage first before you start pointing the finger at them.

That's what I'm doing, I'm not blaming them.
Trying to gather around things to be checked first off, ringing my local garage tomorrow and seeing if I can book it in for Saturday morning.

There could be wear on the splines of the end plate or the arb even though the end plates are tight if worn the arb will move round inside.
If you cant claim on the warranty loosen one of the end plates and try to rotate it in both directions make sure both of the rear wheels are jacked up.

I'm not going to bother mate, I'm far from mechanically minded so I can say I wouldn't have a clue what I'm looking for or doing mate. Took me about 15 minutes to find the 13mm bolts on the arb plates haha.

Yeah mines only 3 weeks old and its clanging, squeaking etc etc. I've spoke to them and it seems easier for them to replace the beam rather then tighten the arb plate etc.

Its going to get looked at this weekend. Hopefully it can be sorted as i cba for a 300 round trip again and wear on the car..

Let me know how it goes mate
Also, in an update I've been on their website and sent in a response to be contacted shortly. Not sure if I'll be in luck for a new axle/fitting but see what happens.
