water ingress and air filter relocation

Two quick questions, I removed the part of the back seat that you sit on because of a damp smell, it seems there are 4 grommets, two small and two big. The big and small grommet on the right hand side are missing and in the big hole I can see a large bolt and daylight. I am assuming that this is where the water is getting in. My question is can I just fill these voids with expanding foam or will I need access to the large bolt?

Also if I fassion a pipe long enough can I relocate a after market air filter to where the fog light is in the front bumper? I intend to remove a fog light for this but not sure if it will work.

Not easier to just buy the grommets?

doubt the grommets will be the cause, i haven't had them in for 4 years now and have nothing.

will most likely be the rear light seals, or if its a 3 door, with opening rear windows, could be those seals

and the filter thing will work, but it really is not worth it. best options are a k'n/green panel filter in the standard box, or a bmc with the intake behind a headlight.

Cheers for the quick reply, I'm led to believe there is a restricted airflow issue with the standard airbox?
Also I washed the car earlier making sure I held the hose on both rear Windows and the lights and everything is dry....

only restriction is the venturi part between the engine and battery

The big bolt you see in the hole is for the rear axle so yes you need to leave access to it. If you can see daylight through it, I'm guessing it's rusted through so you will to get it welded as it's a mounting point for the whole rear end, suspension, wheels etc.
As for putting your air filter behind the fog light, that is absolutely ridiculous! The amount of crap that would hit it and in the wet, although water would have quite a way to travel to get in the engine, it no doubt would in heavy rain/puddles. Be better putting an aftermarket air filter between the engine and battery then putting a cold air feed to it from the fog light

When I say day light it's a pin prick off to the right where the passenger rear wheel would be I'll get under and have a closer look.
As for the filter would a cold air feed be enough or would a panel filter and modify the venturing with a better cold feed be better? I'm not after any massive performance gains just want to let it breath a bit better.
