What would you say it's worth

    I couldn't post this in the "what's it worth" section, possibly due to my post count but anyway I've been looking at a few vtr's lately and working out roughly how much work I've got to do to afford a decent looking one but have come across one that is advertised with a price but also open to offers local within 25 miles from me;

    Y reg 2001 VTR apparantly starts runs and drives well no tax or mot, covered 96,000 miles, has part service history.

    From the pics it does look quite tidy (alot better than the shed I've got at the moment) but will obviously view it before going for it so I can check for rust, if the engines been abused etc, tow truck costs for a 25 mile trip shouldn't be too much especially if I can catch an old mate in a good mood but seeing as it's open to offers I though I'd ask what people think just from these details and the pic

    Will definitely be checking for rust seeing it's got the vtr kit so it's all easily hidden from what I remember from my previous one and a few of my mates and had seen the guide on here about checking the rear beam. I was actually thinking the £200 - £250 mark myself.

    Rust is the enemy, running gear and engines can be changed for pennies these days so buy the best shell you can imo other wise you'll be chasing rust around the car to sort it. Wish I took my own advice mind you lol

    The rust will be the closest inspection, will even be bookmarking the sticky on here when I view the car just to check every known rust spot before putting in an offer. As long as it's solid, beams are decent and engines in good enough shape then I don't mind throwing some money into it to get the mot then bring it upto my kind of standard. Only thing I don't like so far is the mk2 front, always preferred the mk1 but that will grow on me knowing there's a bigger engine under the bonnet if I take it haha

    You can change the front to mk1 easily enough so yeah check the usual areas. Chances are if its fucked in one the other areas won't be far behind

    I've never looked into changing the front ends but it could be tempting as I've got a mk1 sat outside my place at the moment that I'll be willing to scrap if I get the vtr so it will become a donar car before it goes

    If you can get it towed for cheap then it might be worth doing

    Been quoted £30-£50 for towing so I'm seriously considering it, already asked my boss for loads of work this week so adds to the funds towards it
