Overheating

    Hi all.
I have a 2000 VTS 1.4, and it has developed an overheating problem.
If I start the car, and let it run on idle, it takes about 5 min before the coolant spills out of the reservoir tank. The temp gauge rises into the red, and the fan starts.
I have changed the thermostat because that seemed like a cheap place to start.
I have also flushed the cooling system, and refilled and bled.
Still, it overheats and spills coolant.

    Any ideas?

Either you have not bled it properly or a faulty head gasket is pressurizing the system.

Well, since it suddenly startet overheating, before I did anything to it, I'm guessing it could be the head gasket.
    Thanks for the tip

    Dear chasolord,
I would whip the plugs out and see what colour they are. If you have any orange coloured ones, this is a sign as to which cylinder/s your head gasket may be leaking coolant into.
I would also carry out a compression check aswell. These are best carried out with full throttle applied when cranking the engine over and check the compressions on all four cylinders.
    I hope this helps
    Vince,
