Anyone installed a usb charging port straight into the dash

   Was wondering if anyone has put a USB port in one of those blank buttons beside the hazard lights? I thought of it last night and wondered if it would be possible and where would the usb get its power from? Would it be possible to tap into the wires for the Cig lighter?

   No reason why you could do it, bit of a pain having the wire trailing all the way down the dash though?
   
   Power could be taken from anywhere that has a switched live so the fag lighter would be fine.

   if you rig it directly to the 12v feed you will kill whatever you plug into it you would be able to do it by buying a cig lighter usb charger, dissassembling it and soldering a 12v feed from the car to the terminals inside the charger and then you could use a lead from this to wherever you want your usb port to be

   I do have a few of them but i saw a USB in the dash in another car and wanted it haha
